THE KING and I

I watched the movie "KING AND I" with some of my classmates.We need to watch this movie because this is our 1st project in Social Studies. This movie is so interesting. The story of the movie "THE KING AND I" is all about ANNA an English teacher and his son Louis.

The Summary:
Mrs. Anna Leonowens(an English teacher) and her son Louis arrive in Siam(now Thailand), where she has contracted to teach English to the children of the royal household. She threatens to leave when she had been promised is not available, but falls in love with the children. A new slave, a gift of a vassal king, translates "Uncle Tom's Cabin" into a Siamese ballet, expressing her unhappiness at being with the king. She attempts to escape with her lover. Anna and the king fall in love, but her British upbringing inhibits her from joining his harem.She is just about to leave Siam when she hears of the king's imminent death, and returns to help his son, her favorite pupil, rule his people.

The Historical Significance of the Film
~>The Historical Significance i learned from the movie "THE KING AND I" is that, even if you did not know the person, you must try to talk to him or help him in many ways. Do not be selfish. Help others who really need your help. Do not judge them. And last love them and be a good influence to them.

The Social Relevance of the film to our Society
~>For me, the Social Relevance of the film is that,they call their ruler as "KING or QUEEN" while here in the Philippines, we call the "DATU'S or RAHA'S" but now we call our ruler as"PRESIDENT". Like Anna Leonowens did on the movie, he went to other place just to teach other children some lessons like what other teachers do here in the Philippines.
